Spain kind of ruined other countries for me. I’m not even exaggerating. After two weeks between Barcelona, Seville and Granada, I came home and immediately started planning my return trip. The food alone would be worth it, but Spain just keeps stacking things on top β the architecture, the weather, the nightlife, the people.
Barcelona β More Than Just GaudΓ
Yes, you absolutely have to see the Sagrada Familia. Yes, it lives up to the hype. But book your tickets weeks in advance (GetYourGuide is great for this) and go either early morning or late afternoon to avoid the worst crowds. The soft light in the evening makes the stained glass absolutely otherworldly inside.
Beyond that β wander. Just genuinely wander. The Gothic Quarter is one of those places where you turn a corner every five minutes and find something incredible.
Seville β The Real Soul of Spain
Honestly? Seville hit harder than Barcelona for me. It’s smaller, slower, and more authentically Spanish. The Real AlcΓ‘zar is jaw-dropping. The flamenco shows here are the real deal β not tourist performances, but actual emotional, powerful artform.
Granada and the Alhambra
The Alhambra is probably the most spectacular building I’ve ever walked through. The Moorish architecture, the reflection pools, the intricate tile work β photos genuinely don’t do it justice. Book your tickets 2-3 months in advance if you’re going in peak season. They sell out that fast.
